We are excited to announce that the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM – CSIC) actively participated in the annual Working Group on Nephrops Surveys (WGNEPS) meeting, held from November 19th to 21st, 2024, in Edinburgh, Scotland. This event, organized under the auspices of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), which is the international coordination group for Nephrops underwater television and trawl surveys.
WGNEPS brought together approximately 30 leading experts in the field, fostering vibrant discussions and collaborative efforts to enhance our understanding and monitoring of Nephrops norvegicus populations.
ICM – CSIC contributed to this dynamic exchange with a presentation titled “Nephrops norvegicus and Accompanying Megafauna Show Signs of Recovery After Only Four Years of Closure in a No-Take Reserve in the NW Mediterranean”. This work, conducted as part of the DIGI4ECO project, highlighted promising recovery trends in both Nephrops and associated marine species following the implementation of no-take zones.
